From an interrupted visit to a working website

See an illustrative before-and-after view of a website affected by unwanted redirects. Every real recovery starts with investigating the cause, not just hiding a warning.

Unwanted redirects

Visitors are sent to unfamiliar websites instead of your own pages.

Google or browser warnings

Search results or a browser warn visitors that your website may be unsafe.

Spam pages or unknown users

Unfamiliar pages, links or administrator accounts appear without your approval.

Hosting account suspended

Your host reports malicious files, spam activity or suspicious resource usage.

More than a malware scan

WordPress malware cleanup, with the next steps explained

A scanner can flag suspicious code, but recovery also means understanding what changed and reducing the chance of the same issue returning. The agreed scope determines which work your cleanup includes.

Files & database inspection

Review affected WordPress files, plugins, themes and database content for signs of malicious changes.

Malware & backdoor removal

Clean identified malicious code and investigate mechanisms that could let an attacker regain access.

Redirect & SEO spam cleanup

Investigate injected links, unauthorised pages and redirect rules affecting visitors or search results.

Security hardening

Review vulnerable software, suspicious accounts and access settings. Agree on updates and changes before applying them.

Security warning review support

Where applicable, help prepare a review request after fixing the reported issues. Google or your host controls approval.

Clear recovery handover

Understand the work completed, remaining risks and recommended actions rather than receiving only a scan result.

How recovery works

A practical, four-step website recovery process

The first assessment sets the scope and expected timing. Complex infections, hosting restrictions and third-party reviews can take longer.

  1. 01

    Share the symptoms

Send your website URL, the issue you noticed and any hosting or browser warning. Do not send passwords in the initial enquiry.

  2. 02

    Agree the cleanup scope

We review access requirements, backup availability and affected areas, then confirm the work and quote before cleanup begins.

  3. 03

    Clean, harden & check

Address the identified infection and agreed security issues, then check key pages and functionality for remaining problems.

  4. 04

    Review the next steps

Receive a handover and discuss access changes, any external review requests and whether ongoing maintenance is needed.

After the immediate fix

Keep recovery from becoming a repeat problem

Malware removal addresses an incident; keeping a website healthy is an ongoing responsibility. No provider can promise that a website will never be attacked again.

Website care continues after the cleanup.

Keep software maintained

Plan updates and review abandoned plugins or themes instead of leaving known weaknesses unresolved.

Review access & backups

Remove temporary access after handover, review account security and check that your backup process is usable.

Choose ongoing care deliberately

Monitoring and maintenance are separate from a one-time cleanup unless they are specifically included in your agreed plan.

Before you get started

WordPress malware removal: your questions answered

Practical answers about access, cleanup, security warnings and support.

What is included in WordPress malware removal?

The scope may include inspecting files and the database, removing identified malicious code, investigating redirects or spam, and checking the affected pages. Hardening, software updates, warning-review support and monitoring depend on your agreed plan. We confirm these details before work begins.

How long does a hacked website cleanup take?

Timing depends on the infection, the size of the site and the access available. We provide an estimate after the initial assessment. Restoring a website and removing an external security warning are different steps; a hosting provider or Google may need additional time to review the site.

Can you remove a Google security warning or blacklist?

We can help address the issues identified on your site and support a review request when the relevant cleanup is complete. Google decides whether to lift its warning. Security reviews can take several days or weeks, and a cleanup does not guarantee an immediate change in search results.

Will malware removal restore my Google rankings?

Cleaning hacked content can address problems that affect visitors and search visibility, but rankings are not guaranteed. Recovery also depends on recrawling, indexing, the extent of the incident and other ranking factors. We do not promise a specific ranking or recovery date.

Can you help if I cannot log in to WordPress?

Tell us whether you still have access to your hosting account and share the exact error or suspension notice. Alternative access may make investigation possible. If your host has restricted the account, its support team may need to restore access or work with us.

How should I provide access to my website?

Start with your website URL and a description of the problem, not your password. After agreeing the work, arrange a secure method for temporary access with the team. Use only the access needed for the task and revoke temporary accounts or credentials after handover.

What if the malware returns after cleanup?

Contact us with the symptoms so the cause can be investigated. Any included re-clean period, support coverage and exclusions must be confirmed in your written quote. A new vulnerability, compromised account or another infected site on the server can require additional work.

Are premium plugin licences and ongoing monitoring included?

Do not assume a one-time cleanup includes paid licences, hosting charges or indefinite monitoring. We clarify these costs and any monitoring period in the quote. For continued updates and site care, ask about our website maintenance service.
